I’ve done more investigating on possible tires to put on this year. My Toyo Extenza HP’s were great, but are toast. Looking around I’ve found more options (all 215/55r17): Kumho Exsta PS31s, BFG Sport COMP2 A/S’s, Dunlop Direzza DZ102's, Firehawk Indy 500's. Anybody experience with any of the mentioned tires, & recommendations? They must be made in 215/55r17.

Get some hoosiers, bro.
But seriously, my Kumhos have served my jeep admirably. It’s hard to loose traction even on sleek surfaces. I bet a set of winter Kumhos could deal with Canada’s finest weather like champs!

Had the General Altimax RT43 on my F30 for a month or so, they are nice and cheap. Also heard a lot of great things about the Continental DWS.
Also I don’t think they make the Indy 500 in your size.

Why are you looking at the A/S version of the BFG when all the others are summer tires?
We have the Comp 2 A/S on my wife’s Impreza and they’re good for what they are but they’re not going to compare to a summer tire, including the summer Comp 2.
I would go for either the Indy 500 or summer Comp 2, unless you actually want/need the all season capability. Indy 500 is a little better in dry, Comp 2 a little better in wet.

No experience with those specific tires, but I have used Kumho tires before with tremendous result. Great tires.

This shop has them according to their web site.

I settle for a A/S tire if it has good reviews on multiple web sites, that tire does so I’ll considerer it. BFG does not sell Summer Comp2 in my size.

Must be new this year then... and I just found out Michelin finally made the Pilot Sport 4S for my size (drools):

Unless you want/need the winter capability just get the Indy 500. It’ll be in another league from even a sporty all-season.
My wife didn’t want another set of wheels & tires taking up space in our garage. My first choice for her car was the General Altimax RT43 for best possible snow traction from an all-season, but it was out of stock. I went sportier (but still winter capable) with the Comp 2 A/S. It’s a good sporty tire that also works in winter. But it’s not up to the level of a good summer tire

BTW if you’re in Midland again... if you see a Stealth Gray Metallic G6 with painted mirror covers, these GT wheels instead of the 10 spoke but it’s a V6, that’s actually my old car, lol.

Honestly I didn’t love my Indys, they held up at the track but not quite as much as I was expecting

What exact performance characteristics are you looking for? Budget? Region where you live? Do you drive in the snow? Any autocrossing or track use? Do you mind replacing every few years or should they last longer than a typical car loan? Hard to make recommendations without knowing what you are aiming for. It’d be like a vegan asking where to eat and getting a recommendation for a famous local steakhouse.
I have some experience (vicariously through customers and acquaintances) with all of these except the PS31, and have some other ideas for this size.

I do have dedicated winter tires. Track lapping, occasional auto-x, back road bombing.
